We purchased the bar, pool table, and shuffleboard from Universal Billiards (http://universalbilliards.com/). We don't have a special light over the pool table - it's just a recessed can light. As for the wall color, I tried a lighter green originally, but switched to the darker color because I felt it looked better with the dark wood floor and the pool table wood and felt. There are lots of ups and downs; sometimes it’s funny but sometimes it can be creepy, right? I think you’re handling it very well. That seems pretty high! I would get your sprinkler system checked, or make sure all faucets are off and see if your water meter is still running. It could be a leak if you can't figure out why so much water is being used. As far as the calculations, the city raised their rates, effective 10/1/2013. So, you won't be able to reconcile months prior to October since they don't have the rates on the site anymore (you can use the screenshot in my blog though). But, I was able to reconcile your bill that said usage was 53,300 gallons. The way they do it is incrementally. Up to 4,000 gallons are charged at $1.80/thousand (4*1.80=$7.20), then 4,000 to 10,000 are charged at $3.77/thousand (6*3.77=$22.62), then 10,000 to 15,000 are charged at $5.20/thousand (5*5.20=$26), then the remainder above 15,000 is charged at $7.09/thousand (38.3*7.09=$271.55). Adding all those incremental charges up gets you to $327.37. vanweezyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15085428958676651339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874653390814355817.post-52000707916358634282013-11-19T22:04:05.080-06:002013-11-19T22:04:05.080-06:00Thank you for such a thorough blog on this topic! ...Thank you for such a thorough blog on this topic! I have never had the need to read my water bill before. However, after moving from the suburbs of Houston to the city of Dallas that has all changed.

We have only been in this home for 2 months and our 1st water bill was $482 with the 2nd month being still very high at $453! Similar to your experience in Carrollton I expected to pay $100 - $150 per month and I have to tell you we don't have a pool!

I don't mean to ask a ridiculous question, but having never needed to understand my water bill I really don't know what I am reading.

The 1st bill says Usage in 100 GALS = 404 and the charge is $229.38. The 2nd bill says Usage in 100 GALS = 533 and the charge is $327.37. I have no idea how much water they are claiming we used and cannot seem to get it to compute to any of the rates schedules listed on the City of Dallas website. Any insight you can offer would be tremendously appreciated! Needless to say we did not budget for over $400 per month in water/sewer/trash! Thank you for taking the time to share your life online :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03424431523700312116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874653390814355817.post-59102059743612300102013-11-03T14:45:57.651-06:002013-11-03T14:45:57.651-06:00Good writing; very informative! It's frustrating, but I could see that all the pipelines, pumps, energy, chemicals, design, engineering and labor could add up and result in a high price. I definitely appreciate being able to have safe water and wastewater services. Coming from India, I know what it looks like when things are not maintained properly (imagine having wastewater come out of your faucets (YUCK!)!
